New York Times has listed Croatia’s Dubrovnik as one of the 45 places to visit in 2012.
The author of the article calls Dubrovnik the "Saint Tropez of the Balkans," with equal parts of classic and modern.
"Often called the Jewel of the Adriatic, this seaside city features marble streets, Renaissance fountains and white sandy beaches. It has also recently completed an expansion of its airport and a sleek renovation of its cable car system, offering improved city access and views," the author writes.
Dubrovnik has expanded its offers to attract high-end tourists to renovated luxurious accommodations such as Pucic Palace, Excelsior Hotel & Spa, and Villa Dubrovnik. Its gastronomical offerings have also increased in the last years, with NYT singling out French-fusion Gil’s, Panorama and Lucin Kantun, a Croatian tapas restaurant in the Old Town.
