She was born in Astoria, New York, June 30, 1972, daughter of Dusan and Nada Bernic.
She was a graduate of Herricks High School. She received a B.A. from CWPost/Long
Island University. She had been employed as an account manager at AlpiUSA. Atalie
gave back for many years to others-volunteering her time in her community and within
the Croatian Church, and the Croatian Childrens' Festival. She enjoyed traveling,
dancing, skiing but most of all spending time with her family and friends.
Atalie is survived by her mother Nada Bernic-Valencic, her brother and his spouse, Christopher and Joanna Bernic and their children, Aidan and Daniel; her grandparents, Drago and Maria Poldan of Rab, Croatia; her Godchildren Christina Volaric, Brody Stumpf, Deni Poldan, and many close family and friends. She was predeceased by her father, Dusan Bernic; and her brother, Patrick Bernic.
Her family will receive relatives and friends in The Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home,
125 Hillside Avenue, New Hyde Park, Sunday January 29, 2012, from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:15am in Notre Dame RC
Church, 25 Mayfair Road, New Hyde Park. Interment will be in St. Charles Cemetery in
Farmingdale, NY. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations in trust for
Atalie's daughter Julia. Please make checks payable to: Nada Bernic, in trust for
