The week of competition among best Croatian diaspora soccer teams run from June 26th to July 2nd in Split. The second Croatian World Club Championship, which gathered soccer teams from all around the world was organized by Croatian Soccer Federation, Croatian Heritage Foundation and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European integrations. Although city of Split is celebrating Hajduk’s 100th anniversary, the gathering of teams of diaspora got lots of attention from many city officials, leaders of Hajduk, and even President of Croatian Parliament Luka Bebic who attended the final game.Among eight clubs which competed in Split, USA was represented by SC Croat from San Pedro.
There were two teams from Germany, NK Croatia Zagreb from Stuttgart and SC Croatia from Berlin; one team from Austria, NK Dinamo, two from Switzerland, NK Croatia Zurich and NK Dinamo Mohlin; and Canada with SNCC Croatia Toronto. Australia was represented with Canberra FC which made it in the finals against SNSC Croatia Toronto a current title holder.
The final game took place at Poljud stadium where both teams fought hard to be the best in the Second World Tournament. Croatia Toronto victory of 5:0 confirmed they were the best team competing at the Championship for second time around after the 2007 event.
